Tony breathes public transport. From the age of 16, he has held an incredibly diverse breadth of roles across the global public transportation industry. Starting his career as an apprentice fitter, Tony quickly completed his professional qualifications to become a chartered engineer and later Engineering Director, having responsibility for large numbers of both bus and rail fleets. Tony’s experience spans both the public and private sector, having worked for the UK Department of Transport, in addition to co-founding his own successful bus operation in Northern England (with annual revenues of £5m and 220 staff).

As a lifelong industry veteran, Tony has the comprehensive technical and operational knowledge to ensure success in any operation. Career highlights for Tony include managing over 4,500 staff as Group CEO of Futa Bus Lines. This involved full operational and financial responsibility of 32 companies in Vietnam and one in the US, comprising of a 1,000+ bus fleet, 2,000+ taxi fleet, and 250+ logistics vehicles fleet.

Prior to relocating to Vietnam, Tony spent 17 years working in various Managing Director roles for Arriva Deutsche Bahn, one of the world’s largest public transport groups. This involved overall Managing Director responsibility for Arriva’s business in Spain and Portugal (annual turnover in excess of €110m with over 1,100 employees), having previously been Operations Director for all mainland Europe rail and bus operations.

On joining Tower Transit Group Tony took over responsibility for Group business development activities in South America, assuming role of Bid Director for what was the largest public transport bid in the world in 2017 – bidding for operations of up to 3,500 urban buses in Santiago de Chile.

Joining Ascendal Group as CEO Latam, Tony leads Ascendal’s drive to enter and transform transport services in Central and South America. He is adept in strategic direction and operational management with a focus on quality and cost-effectiveness to exceed the expectations of passengers, client bodies and employers. Tony has the language and interpersonal skills required to build, lead and motivate teams while developing strong relationships with all third-party bodies.
